J.P. Spicer-Escalante is a National Referee Coach from Utah. He began his professional referee career in the USL (1993) and A-League (1995), and was selected Sr. Assistant Referee for the A-League Final in 1997. J.P was appointed to his first of over 35 international matches in 1996 – the same year he became a National Referee. He worked as an AR in the MLS from 1996-2001. J.P. returned to soccer in 2008 as an MLS in-stadium observer and before becoming a Professional Match Evaluator (2011-2016). He was promoted to National Assessor in 2010, National Instructor in 2015, and is currently an Assistant Referee Coach and Assessor for the Professional Referee Organization (PRO). J.P. is also the State Director of Assessment (SDA) for Utah.

John Puglisi is a National Clinician for the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) from New Rochelle, NY. He has served NISOA in various capacities such as President of the New York Metro ISOA Chapter, Region II Representative, NISOA Secretary, and Vice-President (2016). Most recently, John was elected NISOA President (2017) placing him in charge of all college soccer officials. During his career as a NISOA National Referee, John was selected to the NCAA Final Four Playoffs in 2003 (Division II) and again in 2007 (Division III). He is also a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) State Referee Assessor registered in Eastern New York.

Now that the Recertification / Re-registration Cycle is over for 2017, plan NOW to satisfy your Recertification requirements for next year by attending the Terry Vaughn Referee Academy. Your attendance automatically satisfies the annual 5 hour continuing education requirement for Re-registration with US Soccer.

The format for the Academy is for 6 topics to be presented by 3 guest speakers – 3 in the morning and 3 after lunch. (Each speaker presents 2 topics.) Those in attendance are divided into 3 groups that rotate from speaker to speaker to speaker. Lunchtime provides the opportunity for the sponsors and the Iowa Referee Committee (IRC) to address the attendees and answer questions.

The Academy is FREE. All you have to do is get there. Lunch is provided and there are prize giveaways / raffles provided by the sponsors throughout the day.

Margaret Domka is a National Referee Coach from Milwaukee, WI. She was formerly a FIFA Referee, retiring from the FIFA Panel in 2016, with an international career spanning the last 10 years. During this time, Margaret went to numerous international and official FIFA tournaments. The highlights of those competitions were the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany (2010), Algarve Cup (2012), FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan (2012), FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada (2014), and most recently the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada (2015). Prior to her selection to the panel as a referee, she was a FIFA Assistant Referee in 2007 and 2008. Margaret is currently Education Director for the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO).
